Spinal problems can take many years to
develop, some common causes are:
- Poor work place design and inadequate/infrequent training
for both manual and sedentary workers
- Extended periods
working in fixed positions. Highest incidence in
all sedentary or all manual work
- Lowest incidence is found
when tasks and activities are varied
- Poor car seating
and poor driving posture. Professional drivers are
more likely to suffer
- Lack of exercise
- Sagging mattresses, poorly supportive
sofas and armchairs
- Bad lifting and carrying method
Common Effects
- Loss of ability to walk, sit, bend or lift.
- Incontinence
and intractable pain.
- Depression, sciatic pain, loss
of sensation and numbness in limbs and feet.
